Lambie urges all non-government Senators to block Liberal’s Digital Readiness Bill to stop increase in veterans’ suicides standard

Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has called on Crossbench and Opposition Senators to block the Veterans’ Affairs Legislation Amendment (Digital Readiness and Other Measures) Bill 2016, which will give an official from the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), powers to publicly release personal information about veterans. “This Bill is proof the Australian Government cares more for its political reputation than it does for our veterans’ health. According to the Government’s summary of the Bill, this bill will ‘enable the secretary to disclose information about a particular case or class of cases where the secretary certifies that it is necessary in the public interest to do so’,” Senator Lambie said. “This Bill also proves that a toxic and dangerous culture ...

Prohibition of Full Face Coverings in Public Places Bill 2017 standard

Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has tabled in Parliament yesterday, a Private Members Bill which will make it an offence to wear full face coverings in a public place under Commonwealth jurisdiction, as well as making it offence to force another person or child to wear a full face covering – unless otherwise authorised or excused by law. Senator Lambie’s Bill links the prohibition of full face coverings to the National Terrorism Threat Level. The ban will be automatically activated when the terrorism threat level reaches the 3rd highest alert rating of ‘Probable’, and remains in place for “Expected” and “Certain” ratings. Currently Australia’s official 5 step terror alert level is set by the Government at “Probable”. “While the ...

Murdoch Reporter knows more about fighting Terrorists than an Australian Terrorism expert!!??: Lambie audio

Independent Senator for Tasmania, Jacqui Lambie has slammed comments made by Murdock reporter Samantha Maiden regarding the JLN’s plan for the air delivery of food and medical aid to the children and families caught behind the frontlines in Syria. “ I don’t know where Sam Maiden gets her information from, about how to fight terrorists – but it’s obvious she and her colleagues think they know more about attacking and undermining terrorists, than Hugh Dolan, my Senate Candidate for Victoria, who helped create the JLN policy for the Middle East. Hugh is a retired RAAF Squadron Leader and military Intelligence officer who did a couple of tours of active service in the Middle East in 2003. Before Hugh joined the Australian ...

Defence Amendment (Fair Pay for Members of the ADF) Bill 2014 standard

Today this Australian Senate is presented with an opportunity to debate and vote for the Defence Amendment (Fair Pay for Members of the ADF) Bill 2014. I know that many Australians, including up to one million voters nationwide, are influenced by how this government treats our Australian Defence Force and veterans’ families and will be interested in the contributions from senators in this chamber. This is simple private member’s legislation I had drafted before Christmas which links pay for members of the Australian Defence Force with pay for Australian parliamentarians or to the consumer price index, whichever is higher. 2nd Reading Speech – Defence Amendment (Fair Pay for Members of the ADF) Bill 2014 – 19-3-15 Division – Defence Amendment ...

Tony Abbott, hands off fresh food GST standard

Adding a goods & services tax (GST) will substantially increase grocery bills. Many families are already struggling to afford fresh fruit & vegetables, hence, we implore this government (and any successive government) to avoid adding a tax to fresh, healthy food. This tax will hurt farmers, lead more families towards cheaper, unhealthy food and increase the rate of diabetes and heart disease. Click here to sign petition at change.org now!

Lambie’s New Private Member’s Legislation which links Diggers’ Pay to Politicians’ is Ready for Comment standard

“This piece of legislation, if passed by the Australian Parliament, will forever solve the Australian Defence Force Pay crisis created by Mr Abbott. Members of our Defence Force don’t have a union. They don’t have a strong voice in the room when their pay and conditions are negotiated. Our Diggers can’t go on strike if their government forces them to take a pay cut, loss of holidays and entitlements. And yet our Diggers are expected, as part of their normal work conditions, to be killed or terribly wounded.” said Senator Lambie Lambies New Private Members Legislation which links Diggers Pay to Politicians Is Ready for Public Comment – 14-11-14
