Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has welcomed last night’s passage of the Renewable Energy Target legislation though the upper house. “The passage of this legislation was a great victory for Tasmania. Abbott uses Citizenship and Terrorism debate to cover up Pension Cuts. standard

Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has accused the Liberal Government of using the debate over Citizenship and Terrorism in order to get away with stealing billions of dollars from Australian pensioners. “Last night I used my vote and made a speech to stand up for Tasmanian pensioners and voted against government legislation which took entitlements and retirement money away from them. Every Tasmanian Liberal and Greens member of parliament should hang their heads in shame for supporting legislation which had serious doubt cast over the figures it used to justify an unfair pension cut.” said Senator Lambie. Imported food labels must show the name of the country of Origin: Lambie & AUSVEG standard

Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has met with the CEO of AUSVEG Richard Mulcahy and called for the Federal Government to listen to Australian farmers and introduce food labelling laws – which guarantee that consumers know exactly which country imported food products come from. “Australian consumers need to know exactly where their food is coming from. The current system – made from local and imported ingredients – is vague and the Federal government’s latest proposal is confusing. Strip Islamic State Supporters of Citizenship using Sedition laws standard

“Should Australians who betray us by supporting our Islamic State enemies, be stripped of their citizenship if they have a second citizenship? Absolutely! However in those circumstances, should a politician – instead of a court make the decision to strip Australian citizenship? Absolutely not! So how do we strip the citizenship of those treacherous Australians whose loyalty and allegiances are clearly with the Islamic slavers, murderers and rapists in the Middle East?  My solution is very simple.

Toothless ASIC needs the powers to investigate credit card interest rates and ATM fees: Lambie standard

Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has called on the Abbot Government to ensure that the Australian corporate watch-dog has sufficient legislative powers to investigate credit card interest rates and ATM fees, after it was revealed in Senate Estimates hearings that ASIC’s “jurisdiction doesn’t extend to the level of interest rates.” “Its clear that the Government has deliberately left ASIC toothless when it comes to the rate of Credit Card interest – and that failure has to be addressed and fixed. When I asked ASIC if they had received complaints about banks charging 17 per cent on credit cards when the Reserve Bank of Australia had dropped its rates to 2 per cent, ASIC couldn’t answer the question and said ...
